US ship Ocean Grand has entered Black Sea Poti Port, bringing in 14,000 tonne of high-quality US wheat, says the United States Embassy in Georgia.
This was carried out under the US Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Food for Progress programme.
This shipment is the first of three shipments, the other two of which are coming in the next months. The wheat will be sold by the private sector on the Georgian market.
The US Department of Agriculture will invest the proceeds from the sales in the USDA Agricultural Development Program to improve the productivity and efficiency of Georgian farmers and producers as well as to improve food safety and quality of Georgian dairy and beef products.
