Tomatoes, frozen chicken meat imports with pests destroyed in Georgia

Employees of the Sanitary, Phytosanitary and Veterinary Control Division of the Customs Department have found 1,952 kilograms of tomatoes and 82,500 kilograms of frozen chicken meat 'non-compliant with import requirements at Sarpi and Poti Port customs checkpoint of Georgia.

More specifically, quarantine pests were found in tomatoes imported from Turkey to Georgia via Sarpi customs checkpoint, while ‘pests dangerous to health' were found in frozen chicken meat imported from Poti Port customs checkpoint.

Both products were destroyed. 

In addition, by order of the Georgian National Food Agency, the manufacturing company of frozen chicken meat was suspended from importing into Georgia for a period of one year.
