Georgian Defence Forces capacity will be kept at no more than 37,000 servicemembers for the next year, following a planned review of the subject by the Defence and Security Committee of Georgian parliament on Friday.
The committee discussed the subject as part of its annual reviews of defence capacity, with the formal approval of the number of GDF professionals to come at the next session of the lawmaking body.
The limit of 37,000 does not include citizens called up for reserve service, with temporary staff at the Ministry of Defence also not counted in the figure. The capacity is also not subject to the limit in case of an armed conflict.
