Tbilisi Energy gas supply company will not increase the cost of natural gas for commercial consumption, Economy Minister Natia Turnava stated today.
Turnava said the ministry consulted with the company and reached an agreement that the current tariff will not be increased by 0.24 tetri from January in Georgia.
Consultations between the ministry and the company have ended. The natural gas price will not increase... If any company reviews its internal resources, it can probably consider the interests of the customers”, said Turnava.
Tbilisi Energy gas supply company announced on December 1 that the natural gas price for commercial consumption would increase from current 0.86 tetris to 1.10 tetris from January 3.
On December 10, seven business associations released a statement in response to the increase of natural gas prices for the commercial sector.
The business associations said that Tbilisi Energy’s decision was ‘not understandable amid the pandemic and the decision would also influence households, as increasing prices for the business sector would increase costs and thus prices of products.
