Azerbaijani oil company SOCAR will provide Georgia with 200 million cubic metres of natural gas at a cheaper tariff which is a trade secret.

Azerbaijan has made this decision, which will take some time, but I think this process will continue in the future. Of course, market principles will be taken into account in this, but Georgian-Azerbaijani relations cannot always follow the developments in the heel market, because these are friendly relations. Therefore, by mutual support, we will lag behind market developments for the benefit of ordinary citizens and nations. The policy of social orientation is in both countries, so we continue on this path," said Abdullayev.
The agreement was signed yesterday by the Economy Ministry Natia Turnava and SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev.
Tbilisi Energy gas supply company will not increase the cost of natural gas for commercial consumption. Economy Minister Natia Turnava stated today.
Seven business associations have released a statement in response to the increase of natural gas prices for the commercial sector that are coming into effect on January 3, 2021 , saying that Tbilisi Energy’s decision is ‘not understandable amid the pandemic and the decision will also influence households as increasing prices for the business sector will increase costs and thus prices of products.’
Georgian restaurant owners have offered a five-point plan to PM Giorgi Gakharia to save the hospitality sector, noting that the recent measures damage their businesses and it is hard for them to work only on takeaway and still fulfill their other financial obligations.
Vice President of the Georgian Restaurateurs Association Shota Burjanadze has responded to Tbilisi Energy gas supply company’s decision to increase the natural gas tariff, and stated that the decision is ‘sadism when business is on the verge of collapse’.
