Ruling party calls on int’l organisations, NGOs to respond to UNM’s ‘anti-western’ attitudes

The ruling Georgian Dream party has called on ‘all political parties, international organisations and NGOs’ to express their views on the anti-western attitudes and actions’ of the United National Movement (UNM) opposition party.
The statement follows the words of one of the leaders of the UNM Nika Melia that he ‘lacks obvious reactions’ from the US and EU ambassadors to Georgia on the ongoing political crisis and the trials of opposition leaders.
Melia said that ‘not being clear’ may be regarded as a ‘betrayal of the US-Georgia strategic partnership’.

The ruling party says that ‘what the UNM is doing is very dangerous’ and has urged everyone ‘to refrain from attacking our strategic partners.’

The Delegation of the European Union to Georgia has issued a statement in agreement with the EU Heads of Mission in which it 'condemns the attacks of certain political actors and media outlets' against the Ambassador of Germany Hubert Knirsch.
The ruling Georgian Dream party has released a statement earlier today, saying that Georgia’s ‘radical opposition’ chooses ‘anti-western’ statements and campaigns, while the choice of the Georgian people is 'to further consolidate Georgian democracy and to ensure the full realisation of Georgia's Western aspirations'.
