Tsinandali Award winners in science, arts revealed to public

Nine of Georgia’s young talents in science and arts have been unveiled at this year’s Tsinandali Award ceremony.

Juries of the competition revealed the winners in each of eight categories on December 1.

The full list of the winners in the eight categories of the Award is:

  • Theatrical Art Award: Davit Turkiashvili
  • Cinema Art Award: Mirian Oragvelidze, Saba Kareli
  • Literary Fiction Award for Prose: Iva Pezuashvili
  • Literary Fiction Award for Poetry: Giorgi Shonia
  • Music Award: Anushka Chkheidze
  • Visual Arts Award: Shotiko Aptsiauri
  • Natural Sciences Award: Tsotne Chitiashvili
  • Humanitarian Sciences Award: Nika Khoperia

Each of the winners received special certificates and 4,000 GEL as a prize.

The Tsinandali Award was established in 1998 under the auspices of the chairman of the Parliament of Georgia Zurab Zhvania.

It was discontinued for over a decade before it was reintroduced in 2014 by the President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili, and the first ceremony since its reinstatement was held in 2015.

Now organised by the Zurab Zhvania Foundation, the awards are prepared and staged by selected young artists in a bid to underline the focus of the event on the young generation.
