Eight of Georgia’s brightest young talents in arts and sciences have been unveiled at this year’s Tsinandali Award ceremony. Juries of the competition revealed the winners in each of the eight categories at the main event on Friday at the Haraki Theatre.
Each of the winners received special certificates and ₾4,000 (about $ 1,500) as a prize.
Two distinguished nominees in musical arts - Ioseb Jugashvili and Giorgi Koberidze were also awarded special prizes. Prizes were also given to young scientists - Beka Modrekiladze, Salome Mchedlidze, Shota Khetsuriani, Ketevan Kotorashvili and Nino Tavartkiladze.
The Tsinandali Award was established in 1998 under the auspices of the Georgian Parliament Speaker Zurab Zhvania.
It had been discontinued for over a decade before it was reintroduced in 2014 by the President of Georgia and the first ceremony since its reinstatement was held in 2015.
Now organised by the Zurab Zhvania Foundation, the award serves to popularise the achievements of young, talented and promising creators in modern art and science.
