A Christmas village will not be arranged in central Tbilisi for the upcoming holidays this year, with the funds going instead to help poor families for the New Year’s and Christmas holidays, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze stated earlier today.
We needed about 700,000-800,000 GEL to set up the village. Taking the current epidemiological and economic situation into account we have decided to use the money for poor families,” Kaladze said.
He stated that Tbilisi City Hall has already made a special platform to accumulate funds to support poor families for New Year and Christmas.
500,000 GEL has already been accumulated on the platform and we will begin to distribute food in the coming days”, Kaladze noted.
He urged volunteers to help Tbilisi City Hall distribute the food for poor families.
