Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the New Year gala concert in Tbilisi was held in a different format without spectators and was broadcasted live on TV.
The gala concert was held at the Palace of State Ceremonies, where Georgian musicians performed on a specially arranged stage – a multi-storey house with balconies and terraces.

While congratulating the public during the gala concert, Tbilisi Mayor Kalka Kaladze said that 2020 will remain one of the most difficult years in the history of mankind, though the government and the public are in solidarity and all together will overcome the difficulties.
Georgia has overcome many trials and has not fallen. It has risen from ashes and started a new life. Next year will be a year of recovery, renewal and strengthening”, said Kakha Kaladze.

Restrictions on movement were lifted as an exception from 21:00 to 05:00 on New Year’s night.
Taking the current epidemiological and economic situation into account, a traditional Christmas village was not arranged in central Tbilisi for holidays. Tbilisi City Hall will instead give 800,000 GEL to help poor families.
New Year’s Eve did not end without an incident in Tbilisi.
