Ambassadors of Israel to Georgia Ran Gidor and EU Ambassador to Georgia Carl Hartzel have creatively congratulated Georgia on the New Year.
Ambassador of Israel to Georgia Ran Gidor made a Georgian dessert called gozinaki made of walnuts and honey that is exclusively served on New Year's Eve.
The ambassador decorated his supra (feast) with chichilaki, a Christmas tree made of hazelnut branches.

EU Ambassador to Georgia Carl Harzell published a video in which he wished Georgians a happy new year and performed the song ‘Snowflakes’ by composer Iakob Bobokhidze with his wife and Georgian musician Zaza Khutsishvili.
“I wish a Happy New Year to all our fellow citizens both in Georgia and abroad, to our Abkhaz and Ossetian brothers. It is only in unity with them that we will secure a better future for Georgia… I wish you a year of a better tomorrow, of the country’s success, revival and development”, Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia said late last night while wishing Georgian citizens a happy new year.
The Residence of the President of Georgia in Tbilisi will open for the public for a week starting the New Year's Eve, with visitors invited to celebrate the season in its yard, adorned with festive lighting and a Christmas tree.
The New Year Tree celebrating the onset of the end-of-year festive season in capital Tbilisi will be lit up on Thursday, mayor Kakha Kaladze said while unveiling the shortened programme for celebrations on Wendesday.
Georgia has reported a total of 342 new cases of coronavirus after conducting 3,288 tests over the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, 2,981 people have recovered and 44 individuals have died. 8,181 individuals remain infected with the virus.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the New Year gala concert in Tbilisi was held in a different format without spectators and was broadcasted live on TV. The gala concert was held at the Palace of State Ceremonies, where Georgian musicians performed on a specially arranged stage – a multi-storey house with balconies and terraces.
Calling on Georgian government ‘to make its voice heard loud and clear in condemnation of those hateful anti-semitic speeches’ Ran Gidor welcomed Metropolitan Ioane Gamrekeli's ‘strong condemnation’ of Ilia Karkadze speech and ‘clarification of his own previous problematic statement’.
About 1,000 Georgian home care specialists will be able to find legal employment in Israel.
