Nine people, including the three opposition United Georgia party members, have been detained during the clashes with police at the Saburtalo and Isani district election commissions (DECs) in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi.

Opposition politicians and their supporters have gathered at various DECs in Tbilisi and regions where the election administration is reviewing the election-related appeals.

The Central Election Commission (CEC) representative has meanwhile announced that the election results in the constituencies of Saburtalo, Bolnisi, Khashuri, Khulo and Ozurgeti have not changed after recounting.

Although the relevant DECs have finished to review appeals concerning the results at the constituencies of Vake, Mtatsminda, Isani, Samgori, Gldani, Nadzaladevi and Gori, the public will be provided with information tomorrow morning.

Opposition politicians from the United National Movement/Unity in Strength election bloc, European Georgia, United Georgia, Lelo for Georgia, Citizens,  Strategy Builder, Victorious Georgia, Tibune and others have also gathered in various constituencies.

Demanding that their complaints were fairly reviewed, all of them went to the DECs to attend the process, but police had blocked the entrance.

The situation is similar at other district election commissions throughout the country, including in Batumi, Bolnisi and Tskaltubo.

Opposition refuses to accept the results of the October 31 parliamentary elections and accuse the Central Election Commission (CEC) of falsifying the results on behalf of the ruling party.

Earlier today, the ruling party member Mamuka Mdinaradze called on opposition parties which 'do not like the results of the elections to refrain from misleading the public', to file their complaints 'in a legal way, to act through legal mechanisms, and to stop trying to violate the law and the will of the voters’.

I would like to call on and address the CEC to thoroughly examine every well-founded complaint, every claim, in order to leave as little room for speculation as possible”. Mdinaradze said at a news briefing.

He also said that ‘in a number of cases where this is possible, the CEC is obligated to correct' and then 'respond accordingly’.

However, he wondered while every protocol was signed by opposition representatives during the election day, including the protocols about which they are complaining today, 'why did they agree to sign protocols if they were incorrect'.

The CEC has meanwhile announced that all of the authorised persons are attending the district electron commission sessions. Therefore, the CEC calls on all political parties to wait for the DEC sessions and avoid misinforming the public about the election processes.

Head of Human Resources Department at the CEC Giorgi Kalandarishvili stated earlier today that DECs have received 1,561 appeals related to the parliamentary elections. However, not all appeals call for a recount of the vote.

Also today 25 local NGOs, including Transparency International Georgia, Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association and International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy, stated that the Georgian Dream government has failed to conduct October 31 parliamentary elections in line with democratic standards.
