Georgian law enforcers have launched investigations into six election-related violations which have taken place earlier today in Tbilisi, Kutaisi and in the southern Marneuli municipality.
The MIA reports that opposition political party United National Movement supporter Zviad Kuprava was physically assaulted by several individuals at the #40 polling station in the Didi Digomi District of Tbilisi.
Another incident took place in The western city of Kutaisi near polling station #37. Irakli Kikvadze, the Labour Party candidate for the Kutaisi mayor’s post, said unknown persons had verbally insulted and physically attacked him.
An investigation has been also launched into a physical confrontation which took place at polling station #39 in Isani District in Tbilisi, and #52 and #89 polling stations in Georgia’s southern Marneuli municipality villages of Kizilajlo and Dashtapi.
The Interior Ministry created mobile police groups in every region of Georgia in order to ensure a free, secure and peaceful environment on Election Day.
