Individuals placed under mandatory quarantine in hotels will be tested for blood clots (D-dimer) as in most cases COVID-19 infection causes small blood vessels to leak and blood to clot.
Head of the National Centre for Disease Control Amiran Gamkrelidze said testing costs will be fully covered by the state.
Every quarantine hotel has its medical team. Medics have to assess the risk of everyone being under quarantine. If the need arises, any individual should undergo testing for blood clotting in order to minimise the risk of venous thromboembolism. The costs should be fully covered by the state”, said Gamkrelidze.
Nearly two weeks ago a 41-year-old woman under mandatory quarantine in a hotel in Batumi died suddenly.
Later after the death Gamkrelidze stated that thromboembolism was the reason for her death.
