PM Gakharia: increased number of coronavirus recoveries gives reason for ‘cautious optimism’

Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia says that the increased number of the individuals who have recovered from coronavirus gives reason for cautious optimism.

 2,197 individuals have recovered from coronavirus in the country in the past 24 hours, while the figure stood at 1,262 yesterday. 

 Gakharia said that the country is able to ‘effectively manage’ the increased number of infections. 

 He stated that only local restrictions will be imposed if it is necessary and urged people to wear face masks in open areas where it is impossible to keep distance. 

 Georgia has reported 1,731 new cases of coronavirus and 15 deaths in the past 24 hours.

 The new cases were recorded in: 

  • Tbilisi - 636 cases 
  • Adjara - 333 cases 
  • Imereti - 320 cases 
  • Kvemo Kartli - 121 cases 
  • Shida Kartli - 76 cases 
  • Guria - 18 cases 
  • Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti - 119 cases 
  • Racha Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti - 15 cases 
  • Kakheti - 45 cases 
  • Mtskheta-Mtianeti - 9 cases 
  • Samtskhe-Javakheti - 39 cases 

Georgia has had 33,858 cases since February 26, 2020. 

14,829 of the 33,858 have recovered, while 253 others have died. 

18,776 individuals remain infected with Covid-19 in the country as of today. 

4,022 individuals are undergoing treatment in hospitals as of today, while 2,344 are in hotels.
