A former market in the east Georgian town of Gori will soon be transformed into a modern recreational zone which will also include a youth centre, announced Georgian Dream majoritarian candidate for Gori Giorgi Khojevanishvili.
Khojevanishvili said that the Cartu Foundation of Bidzina Ivanishvili, the founder and the head of the ruling Georgian Dream party, had gifted the territory of the former market to the municipality of Gori in order for a recreational zone to be built there.
For years, there was an area in the center of Gori, the former market area, which passed into private ownership, from hand to hand but no investment was made there...and so in the center of Gori, this area had been turned into a landfill", said Khojevanishvili.
Earlier this month Cartu Foundation gifted the former hippodrome in central Tbilisi to Tbilisi City Hall to build a central park for the capital in the area.
