Georgia's Central Election Commission (CEC) has announced that ballot papers for the October 31 parliamentary elections are being printed.
The CEC Spokesperson Ana Mikeladze also noted that ballot papers are being printed for Adjara Supreme Council elections as well as mayoral and city council (Sakrebulo) by-elections as well.
Mikeladze announced at the news briefing yesterday that 15 local and 16 international organisations will monitor the printing process together with the CEC that will take a couple of days.
A total of 7,102,600 ballot papers will be printed in seven printing houses in Tbilisi for 3,725 polling stations, including:
Sakrebulo by-elections will be held at 39 polling stations in the four municipalities of Tbilisi, Telavi, Tetritskaro and Oni municipalities.
Mayoral by-elections will be held in 255 polling stations in the five municipalities of Kaspi, Oni, Kharagauli, Terjola and Kutaisi.
At 213 polling stations, the ballot papers will be printed in Georgian and Azerbaijani languages, while at 135 polling stations, the ballot papers will be printed in Georgian and Armenian languages for the respective national minorities.
The upcoming parliamentary elections will be held according to an updated electoral system this year with 120 MPs being elected according to party lists, and 30 - according to majoritarian districts. In addition, the barrier for a party to enter parliament is one percent.
