Georgian citizens arriving home with a negative PCR test result will no longer be required to be placed under mandatory quarantine from October 21.
Georgian Economy Minister Natia Turnava said Georgian citizens with negative COVID-19 test results will be obliged to go into self-isolation for eight days.
Turnava also noted that those who have not performed a test will have to spend eight days in quarantine.
The Georgian government decreased the coronavirus quarantine time from 12 to eight days for individuals entering Georgia in early September.
Foreign citizens arriving in Georgia are obliged to take a rapid antigen test after the end of 8-day quarantine.
If the results of the rapid antigen tests are unclear, foreign citizens will undergo a PCR test also.
Brand hotels in Georgia have given space to the government free of charge in recent days to place Georgian citizens under quarantine in order to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus - COVID-19.
Georgia’s Minister of Health, Ekaterine Tikaradze has stated today that all citizens entering the country will be placed under mandatory quarantine starting from today to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus. New quarantine zones will be arranged at the Sarpi, Larsi and Red Bridje customs checkpoints.
All foreigners entering Georgia, including from Germany, France, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia – countries to which Georgia has opened its borders unconditionally – will be required to present PCR test results from the proceeding 72 hours to enter Georgia or undergo PCR testing at their own expense in a laboratory located at the airport.

Georgia has reported 1,351 new cases of coronavirus, 337 recoveries and 14 deaths in the past 24 hours. The majority of the new infections were recorded in the capital Tbilisi, Adjara and Imereti regions. Starting today, Georgian citizens returning from foreign states with negative PCR tests will be sent into self-isolation instead of quarantine. The majority of the 12,033 Covid-19 patients in Georgia are undergoing treatment either in hotels or at home as they have a mild form of the virus.
The number of daily coronavirus tests being conducted in Georgia is 12,000, which is 60 times more than at the onset period of the pandemic.
