New aircraft manufacturing plant to repair aircraft owned by Defence Forces of Georgia

A new aircraft manufacturing plant has been opened on the territory of Tbilisi Aircraft Manufacturing, where aircraft owned by the Defence Forces of Georgia will be fully restored and repaired by Georgian specialists in accordance with modern standards, announces the Ministry of Defence of Georgia.

Spread over 3,000 sq.m. territory the new plant was opened today by Georgian Defence Minister Irakli Gharibashvili and Economy Minister Natia Turnava. 

Currently Mi-24 helicopters belonging to the Georgian Defence Forces are being repaired at the new plant. In addition to the Mi-24s, the Mi-8 Mtv, UH-1 Iroquois and L-39 training aircrafts will be renovated and upgraded in the near future.

Infrastructure and repair works are being carried out on the territory of the aircraft factory as well.
