Georgian hazelnuts exports up 54% as of October 11

Georgia has exported 6,273 tonnes of hazelnuts between August 1 and October 11, which is a 54% increase compared to the same period of 2019, announces Georgian Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection.

By exporting hazelnuts abroad Georgia generated $33.7 million. Revenues increased by 63 per cent compared to the same period of 2019.

The ministry says that Georgian hazelnuts were exported to these EU countries:

  • Germany (1,989 tonnes)
  • Italy (1,098 tonnes)
  • Czechia (382 tonnes)
  • Poland (210 tonnes)
  • Bulgaria (176 tonnes)
  • France (169 tonnes)
  • Spain (165 tonnes)
  • Lithuania (161 tonnes)
  • Greece (97 tonnes)
  • Estonia (44 tonnes)
  • Latvia (43 tonnes)
  • Austria (22 tonnes)
  • Slovakia (15 tonnes)
  • Croatia (10 tonnes)

Also, export of Georgian hazelnuts were made to these countries:

  • Russia (354 tonnes)
  • Armenia (326 tonnes)
  • Belarus (153 tonnes)
  • Ukraine (148 tonnes)
  • Brazil (136 tonnes)
  • Algeria (98 tonnes)
  • Canada (64 tonnes)
  • Mexico (53 tonnes)
  • Saudi Arabia (60 tonnes)
  • Iraq (24 tonnes)
  • UK (22 tonnes)
  • US (19 tonnes)

About 50,000 tonnes of high quality hazelnuts are expected to be harvested in Georgia this year.
