Theatre troupes from different parts of Georgia will converge to locations in the country's west to celebrate their sixth edition of the Regional Theatres Festival in a post-lockdown environment starting this week.
Eight companies will bring their actors, shows and creative teams to the week-long bill of the event.
A staging by the Sokhumi Drama Theatre will open the programme on Tuesday at the historical fort city of Nokalakevi in western Georgia's Senaki Municipality.
The bill will also involve productions by troupes from Dmanisi in the country's south, Gori from central Georgia and western cities of Kutaisi, Zugdidi and Batumi.
Organisers for the sixth edition of the festival, held after the COVID lockdown in Georgia, have been receiving submissions for theatre stagings prepared in the realm of the pandemic and reflecting the circumstances.
Set to invite audiences in open-air conditions and with precautionary measures from state health bodies, the regional celebration of stage art will conclude on Sunday in the Black Sea port city of Poti.
