The Head of Infectious Diseases and AIDS Centre Tengiz Tsertsvadze said earlier today that the centre has suspended reception of patients for stationary treatment due to its difficult operating conditions.
However, Tsertsvadze noted that the centre will continue reception of those infected individuals who need ambulatory care.
We were forced to suspend reception of patients infected with COVID-19 and HIV/AIDS for stationary treatment starting today due to lack of basic, necessary, vital conditions”, Tsertsvadze told 1TV.
He also added that the centre has addressed the Georgian Health Ministry for a number of times to help them improve the basic infrastructure on the ground, but in vain.

Health Minister Ekaterine Tikaradze disagrees with Tsertsvadze. Minister Tikaradze said that the government has allocated 40 million GEL to provide the Infectious Diseases and AIDS Centre with a brand new building.
The Infectious Diseases and AIDS Centre has been one of the main destinations to treat coronavirus-affected individuals during the pandemic. However, it is located on the territory owned by Aversi Pharma for almost ten years now.
