Farmers and beneficiaries of the state programme 'Plant the Future' will have their first harvest this year, announces the Agriculture and Rural Development Agency.
The agency reports that the 16 million GEL allocated through the programme helped create nurseries and gardens on 10,000 hectares of land throughout Georgia.
Anton Jamelashvili is one of the farmers who benefited from the programme; he plans to harvest 30 tonnes of cherry this year. Jamelashvili planted cherries on eight hectares of land in the village of Pkhvenisi of Gori municipality within the 'Plant the Future' in 2015.

He received 72,000 GEL in financing from the state of which 49,000 GEL was spent on purchasing saplings and 23,000 GEL for the installation of a drip system.
The 'Plant the Future' state programme was launched in 2015 in order to boost agriculture and help people open new enterprises, turn out high quality produce and increase the export potential of Georgian goods.
