One detained for selling falsified documents to individuals to help receive coronavirus financial assistance

Police have detained one individual for falsifying documents, which he later sold to 11 individuals who intended to benefit from the state compensation programme for people affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, reports the Investigation Service of the Georgian Finance Ministry.

The Investigation Service reports that the detainee, who was convicted of producing fake  documents in the past, is currently on parole.

The investigation found that the detainee made and sold each fake document for 50 GEL (about $16) in Georgia’s eastern Kakheti region.

The crime is punishable by up to three years in prison.
