Georgia reports 26 new COVID-19 cases, including 18 in quarantined Bolnisi

Georgia has confirmed 26 new cases of the coronavirus, increasing the total number of cases to 783.
The Medical Director of Tbilisi Infectious Disease Hospital Marina Ezugbaia told journalists today that 18 of the infected individuals are from the village of Mushevani in quarantined Bolnisi municipality in eastern Georgia.
Ezugbaia also added that four individuals belong to a ‘cluster’ in the Saburtalo district in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi, while four others are from the quarantine zone.
Despite the recent increased rate of coronavirus infection, Maina Ezugbaia said the number of recoveries in Georgia is above 77%.
Five individuals have recovered over the last 24 hours, increasing the total recoveries to 605. As of now, the number of infected individuals throughout the country stands at 166.
Georgia confirmed 11 new cases of the coronavirus and 24 recoveries over the last 24 hours. As of May 30, the country has a total of 757 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 600 recoveries and 12 deaths. The number of infected individuals stands at 145.
Seventy-two per cent of COVID-19 patients have recovered in Georgia, with only 193 people remaining infected with the virus, Director of Tbilisi Hospital of Infections Diseases Marina Ezugbaia stated earlier today. Georgia has had 731 confirmed cases of the coronavirus since February 26, 2020. 526 of the patients have recovered, while 12 others have died.
The rate of coronavirus infection has slowed in Georgia over the past several days, with Georgia reporting just five new cases of coronavirus earlier today, while the figure stood at six yesterday and 11 on May 5. The total number of coronavirus cases is 615 as of May 7. 275 of the 615 patients have recovered, while nine have died. As of today 331 remain infected with COVID-19 in Georgia. Director of Tbilisi Hospital of Infectious Diseases Marina Ezugbaia says that the number of recovered people is coming close to the number of the patients who are being treated in hospitals for coronavirus.
The villages of Khatisopeli, Vanati, Mushevani in eastern Georgia have have been placed on strict lockdown due to an outbreak of the coronavirus. Georgian Interior Ministry announced earlier today that movement in the villages will be banned.
Over 50 inhabitants will undergo mandatory PCR (polymerase chain reaction) testing for the coronavirus in Georgia’s eastern Mushevani village, which has been on strict lockdown due to an outbreak of the virus since April 25. The results of the tests will become known on June 25, which will play a crucial role in removing the quarantine-zone status for the village of Mushevani.
