Police have detained a 58-year-old woman for physical and psychological violence against her daughter-in-law, which led to the latter’s attempting suicide.
Police say the detainee, only identified as M.A., threatened to kill her daughter-in-law, M.K., physically and verbally assaulted her.
The press office of the Interior Ministry says that the detainee threatened to kill M.K. on several other occasions.
The crime is punishable from two to four years of imprisonment.
A law which makes the punishment for certain forms of domestic violence more severe came into force in December 2018.
