Man stabs police officer called in for domestic conflict, then commits suicide

A 35-year-old man wounded a patrol police officer called by the man’s wife due to a domestic conflict in the Temka settlement of Tbilisi earlier today.
After attacking the policeman, the man jumped from the seventh floor of the residential building.
He died in hospital shortly after the incident took place.
The health condition of the police officer is satisfactory, the Georgian Interior Ministry has reported.
Police have detained a 58-year-old woman for physical and psychological violence against her daughter-in-law, which led to the latter’s attempting suicide.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia says that people phone police for family violence cases more frequently than in previous years. The Deputy Interior Minister of Georgia Natia Mezvrishvili said that several police officers have been dismissed for committing domestic violence.
Georgia’s Interior Minister Giorgi Mgebrishvili is calling on all victims of domestic violence to speak out and seek help.
