Six infected individuals have recovered from COVID-19 in Georgia increasing the total number of recoveries to 184.
Georgia confirmed the first case of the coronavirus in late February. As of now, the country has reported 539 cases of the virus, including six deaths.
Mewnahile, Georgian Health Minister Ekaterine Tikaradze announced earlier today that at least 1,000 individuals will be tested for COVID-19 in Georgia per day.
Head of the Georgian National Centre for Disease Control Amiran Gamkrelidze also noted that Georgia is expecting to receive an experimental medicine Remdesivir from the US biopharmaceutical company Gilead.
Head of the United States National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Dr. Anthony Fauci has also said based on a large study that “Remdesivir has a clear-cut, significant, positive effect in diminishing the time to recovery”.

Also today 24 open air markets have reopened in the country following the government’s six-phase anti-crisis plan aimed to gradually lift coronavirus-related restrictions.
However, in order for markets to open, they had to fulfill a series of requirements including thermal screening of traders and sanitising work. Wearing face masks and gloves at markets is also mandatory.
