24 ‘online clinics’ are ready to provide services to patients with fever and respiratory symptoms, said Deputy Minister of Health Tamar Gabunia earlier today.
The online clinics are call-centres where patients can be given consultation by doctors and told what to do – whether to stay at home, call an ambulance to be brought to a fever clinic or Covid-19 hospitals.
Patients with fever and respiratory symptoms should call 112, from where they will be connected to online clinics.
Out of the 24 online clinics, 15 of them are in Tbilisi and the rest are in the regions. Two online clinics are in Batumi, two of them are in Kutaisi, one in Mtskheta, one in Rustavi and one in Gurjaani which will serve the Kakheti region,” said Gabunia.
Gabunia noted that the aim of online clinics is “to prevent unnecessary hospitalization and congestion at medical centres which poses a risk of spreading the virus.”
She also said that the identification of clinics in the regions capable of receiving patients with fever will soon be completed.
Each fever clinic should be ready to receive patients with fever safely. They should have at least one room to receive the patient with fever and manage the infection in isolation,” said Gabunia.
She noted that the fever clinics should be able to do a Covid-19 test on place and conclude if the person has the coronavirus.
There are about forty fever clinics throughout the country which are ready to treat patients.
