Seven transferred from Abkhazia after contact with infected woman

Seven people have been transferred from the Russian-occupied Abkhazia region of Georgia onto Tbilisi-controlled territory after they came into contact with a woman who was also recently transferred from Abkhazia to Zugdidi in western Georgia and tested positive for the new coronavirus. 

These seven people have been transferred at night and placed under quarantine in the seaside town of Anaklia where there are 81 people under quarantine in total,” Governor of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Alexandre Motserelia commented.

Meanwhile, there are seven other people in the Zugdidi Infectious Disease Hospital out of which two of them have tested positive for the Covid-19. One of them is a 67-year-old man from the village of Zeda Etseri, Zugdidi municipality and the second is a woman, aged 50, from Abkhazia. 

Samples have been taken and sent to the laboratory from a middle-aged man from Abkhazia who was transferred to the Zugdidi hospital yesterday. This man has not been in contact with the infected woman from Abkhazia.

The remaining four patients in the Zugdidi Infectious Disease Hospital are family members, parents and two children who don’t have the symptoms of the coronavirus but are under the supervision of doctors.

As of now, there are 224 persons under the self-isolation in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region.
