Vienna, Rome, Prague are the top three in demand directions from Georgia’s Kutaisi International Airport in February 2019, announces United Airports of Georgia.
After these three cities comes Athens and Memmingen.
In total Kutaisi Airport served 617,342 passengers in 2018, which is a 52.5% increase year-on-year.
United Airports of Georgia reports that 95% of Kutaisi airport passengers (587,643 passengers) were taken by WizzAir.
Kutaisi is leading in European airports in terms of growing passenger traffic.
Starting August 1 Wizz Air will base a third aircraft AIRBUS A320 in Kutaisi airport.
Also from August 1, Kutaisi International Airport will introduce six new European destinations, announces Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze.
Wizz Air has been carrying out flights on the Georgian aviation market since it opened its first Caucasian base in September 2016.
As for Kutaisi Airport, a new terminal is being built that is expected to triple the capacity of the airport. Construction of a new terminal is due to be completed by the end of 2019.
