Passenger traffic up by 25% at Georgian airports in Jan-Feb 2019

Georgia’s three international airports served 625,236 passengers in January-February 2019, which is a 25% increase in comparison to last year, says the United Airports of Georgia.
The number of passengers who took regular or charter flights in Georgia increased in all three main airports of the country: Tbilisi Shota Rustaveli International Airport, Batumi Aleksandre Kartveli International Airport and Kutaisi David Aghmashenebeli International Airport.
More specifically:
- Tbilisi International Airport served 433,202 passengers - a 13% increase y/y
- Kutaisi International Airport served 103,468 passengers – 112% increase
- Batumi International Airport served 30,251 passengers – 67% increase
Georgia’s rural airports also saw an increase in passenger numbers last month.
Queen Tamar Airport in Mestia, Svaneti region, served 351 passengers in February, which was a 228% increase y/y.
Meanwhile, Ambrolauri airport in Georgia’s Racha region, which received passengers for the first time in 2017, served 35 passengers (+30%) last month.
Both rural airports served 894 passengers (+80%) in January-February 2019, said the United Airports of Georgia.
The number of passengers who took regular or charter flights in Georgia’s three international airports increased by 23% in 2018 compared to 2017, while the number of performed flights increased by 17%.

Henrik Hololei, Director-General for Mobility and Transport of the European Commission says that Georgia is the leading aviation country among the Eastern Partnership countries.
Georgia’s three international airports served 4,688,177 passengers in the last 11 months, which is a 23% increase in comparison to last year, says the United Airports of Georgia.
Georgia’s three international airports served 1,014,732 passengers in January-March 2019, which is a 21% increase in comparison to last year, says the United Airports of Georgia.
Georgia’s three international airports served 1,450,847 passengers in January-April 2019, which is a 20% increase in comparison to last year, says the United Airports of Georgia. Georgia’s rural airports also saw an increase in passenger numbers last month.
Georgian Interior Minister Giorgi Gakhtaria has met with 9-year-old Dachi Gulua who has requested that local traffic signs portray women as well.
Georgia’s three international airports served 1,912,352 passengers in January-May 2019, which is a 19% increase in comparison to last year, says the United Airports of Georgia.
Georgia’s three international airports served 2,489,823 passengers in January-June 2019, which is a 18.24% increase in comparison to last year, says the Georgian Civil Aviation Agency.
Georgia’s five airports – three international (Tbilisi, Batumi and Kutaisi) and two local (Mestia and Ambrolauri) – served 571,848 passengers in July 2019, which is a 7.3 per cent decrease in comparison to last year, says United Airports of Georgia.
