Georgian teacher Lado Apkhazava named among the top ten for the Global Teacher Prize

Georgian civil education teacher Lado (Vladimer) Apkhazava working in Chibati village, Guria region, has been named one of the 10 finalists for the Global Teacher Prize.

A video released yesterday showed well-known actor Hugh Jackman announcing the 2019 Teacher Global Prize top ten.

I am very happy and cannot find the words to express the feeling,’’ Lado Apkhazava said about his nomination.

This is how the list of the finalists looks like.

49 teachers were selected earlier out of 10,000 applications from around the world for the contest in total.

The winner will be awarded one million USD.

Lado Apkhazava won the National Teacher Award of Georgia back in 2017.
