A Georgian school teacher has been distinguished with this year’s award by the Schools: Partners for the Future German initiative, honouring her work in educating students in foreign language and culture.
Zeinab Murjikneli, who teaches at Tbilisi’s First Experimental Public School, was unveiled among 10 teachers awarded the prize of the anniversary 10th programme for the initiative.
The winners were selected from 62 nominees submitted by 483 individuals from schools in 35 countries. The nominations were prepared by colleagues and students from the schools.
Murjikneli received the prize from Berika Shukakidze, Manager of Georgia’s National Centre for Teacher Professional Development, this week.
Also known as PASCH, the initiative reveals teachers who contribute most to teaching German as a second language and sharing intercultural values.
A global network of around 1,800 schools, it was established by the German Federal Foreign Office in 2008, in cooperation with the Central Agency for Schools Abroad, the Goethe Institute, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the Educational Exchange Service of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Federal Lands (PAD).
