Former Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Georgia Mikheil Chkhenkeli, 51, has been reappointed to the post after the resignation of Mikheil Batiashvili last week.
Chkhenkeli has served as the Georgian PM’s advisor for education since 2018.
Between 2017 and 2018 he was the minister of education of Georgia.
Before taking the minister’s post Chkhenkeli served as the deputy head of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.
As a doctor of mathematics he has delivered lectures at leading US universities for 20 years.
Chkhenkeli is a member of the American Association of University Professors.
