Georgian Education Minister elected honorary member of Academia Europaea

Georgian Minister of Education Mikheil Chkhenkeli has been elected an honorary member of the Academia Europaea, announces the Ministry of Education.
The Academia Europaea is a European, non-governmental association and acts as an academy of humanities, letters and sciences.
Members of the Academia Europaea are scientists and scholars who collectively aim to promote learning, education and research. Founded in 1988, the Academia Europaea is comprised of some 3,800 members which includes leading experts from the physical sciences and technology, biological sciences and medicine, mathematics, the letters and humanities, social and cognitive sciences, economics and the law.
As Georgia’s Ministry of Education announced the Academia Europaea will open a regional hub in Georgia in the near future.
Academia Europaea, a renowned international education organisation, will launch its first academic hub outside of the European Union at Georgia’s Tbilisi State University.
The Georgian Ministry of Education and the National Communications Commission are implementing five new projects in 2019 to help students develop technology skills.
Former Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Georgia Mikheil Chkhenkeli, 51, has been reappointed to the post after the resignation of Mikheil Batiashvili last week. Chkhenkeli has served as the Georgian PM’s advisor for education since 2018.Between 2017 and 2018 he was the minister of education of Georgia.
Georgian Education Minister Mikheil Chkhenkeli has presented a 10-year education and science development strategy which covers five major areas, including pre-school education, general education, higher education, vocational education and science.
The Georgian government together with the Education Ministry will pay special attention to developing quality education and its provision to citizens, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili stated in his speech at today’s presentation of the 10-year Development Plan of the Ministry of Education and Science.
