The US ship Porter (DDG 78) has arrived in Georgia’s coastal city of Batumi for a port visit earlier today, the US Embassy to Georgia reports.

The visit serves to highlight the continued cooperation between the US and Georgia by promoting regional peace and stability. This is the ship’s second visit to Georgia,” the embassy said.

The US Porter is an Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer of the United States Navy.

The video has been released by the US Embassy Tbilisi.

The ship is capable of conducting exercises and operations in areas such as anti-submarine warfare and ballistic missile defense.

During the visit American sailors will have an opportunity to explore local historical sites and ‘build lasting partnerships with their Georgian coast guard colleagues,’ the US embassy stated.

The USS Porter is commanded by CDR C.M. Trent and has a crew of 39 officers and 282 enlisted personnel.  The ship’s dimensions are as follows: length 154M, beam 20M, draft 11M.
