The German Federal President Frank Walter Steinmeier has arrived in Tbilisi.
Accompanied by his wife Elke Budenbender, Steinmeier is paying an official visit to Georgia for the first time as a President.
He earlier visited the country in 2016 when he served as the German Foreign Minister.

During his visit on October 6-8, Steinmeier will meet with President Salome Zurabishvili, Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia, Parliament Speaker Archil Talakvadze and Orthodox Patriarch Ilia II.

Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani welcomed Steinmeier at Tbilisi International Airport earlier today.
Minister Zalkaliani said Germany is “a strong supporter” of Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as its European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations.
