Georgian Minister of Foreign Affairs David Zalkaliani has started his official visit to Spain yesterday.
He will hold several meetings with the Spanish government officials until January 29.
Zalkaliani participated in an event organised by the Argentinian government last night where he met with the country’s Minister of Tourism, Gustavo Santos to discuss bilateral cooperation agenda.
The parties have emphasised the important potential for intensified cooperation in the field of tourism. The two countries plan to sign a memorandum of cooperation in the tourism sector.

Zalkaliani also met with the Minister of Internal Affairs of Spain, Fernando Grande-Marlaska.
The two ministers have discussed the cooperation progress of the law enforcement agencies of Georgia and Spain in terms of combating crime.
Zalkaliani and Grande-Marlaska have expressed readiness to further intensify the bilateral cooperation.

The Interior Minister of Spain has praised Georgian government’s efforts regarding implementation of the readmission agreement as well as prevention of the increase in the number of asylum seekers to the EU countries since Georgia was granted with visa free regime.
David Zalkaliani invited Fernando Grande-Marlaska to Georgia.
During his visit David Zalkaliani also plans to meet with the Foreign Minister of Spain Josep Borrell and President of the Senate Pío García-Escudero. He will also meet the representatives of Georgian diaspora.
