Georgia's top trading partners were Turkey ($1.14 billion), Russia ($903.9 million) and Azerbaijan ($682.5 million) in January-August 2019, show the preliminary data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
In January-August 2019 the share of the top ten trading partners in Georgia’s total external trade turnover amounted to 66.5 per cent.
The external trade turnover with European Union (EU) countries decreased by 3.7 per cent year-on-year (y/y) and amounted to $2 billion, said Geostat.
Exports totaled $571.1 million (25.3 per cent higher), while imports reached $1.5 billion (11.6 per cent lower).
The external trade turnover of Georgia with Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries totalled $2.77 billion in January-August 2019 which is a 0.3 per cent decrease compared to the same period of 2018.
Exports came to $1.27 billion (24.2 per cent higher) while imports sank to $1.49 billion (14.7 per cent lower).

Overall, Georgia’s external trade turnover increased to $8.13 billion (0.01%) in January-August 2019 reports preliminary data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
The value of exports increased by 12.4 per cent and reached $2.4 billion, while imports decreased 4.4 per cent and amounted to $5.7 billion.
The trade deficit of Georgia in January-August 2019 amounted to $3.3 billion which is 40.6 per cent of trade turnover.
