Georgia’s external trade at $7.07 bln in Jan-July 2019

Georgia’s external trade decreased by 0.2 per cent and reached $7.07 billion in January-July 2019, says the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

The value of Georgian exports increased by 12.3 per cent to $2.10 billion, while the value of imports decreased by 4.7 per cent to $4.96 billion with respect to 2018, said Geostat.

In the reporting period Georgia’s trade deficit came out to $2.86 billion, which was a 40.5 per cent share of the country's total trade turnover.

Trade deficit is an economic measure of the negative balance of trade in which a country's imports exceed its exports.
