Georgia’s external trade stands at $4.9 billion in January-May 2019 – a 1.1 per cent increase compared to the same data from last year, Georgia’s National Statistics Office (GeoStat) says in its preliminary report for the period.
GeoStat states that exports in the first four months of the year amounted to $1.4 billion, which is more than a 14 per cent increase compared to 2018, while imports stood at $3.4 billion, a decrease by 3.6 percent compared to the same data from 2018.
In January-May 2019, exports from Georgia to countries of the EU amounted to $360.9 million (22.1 percent higher compared to January-May 2018) and constituted 24.6 percent of total exports, while the import amounted to $885.8 million (11.5 percent lower) with 25.4 percent in total imports,” GeoStat says.
In January-May 2019 exports to the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) stood at $748.7 million (28.3 percent higher compared to January-May 2018) and reached 51.1 percent of total export, while the import was $951.3 million (13.2 percent lower) with 27.2 percent in total import.
The top trade partners in exports were Russia ($218.7 million), Azerbaijan ($168.8 million) and Bulgaria ($119.1 million).

Georgia’s external trade amounted to $4.95 billion in January-May 2019, says the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).In the reporting period the value of Georgian exports increased by 14.2% to $1.46 billion, while the value of imports decreased by 3.6% to $3.49 billion with respect to 2018, said Geostat.
Trade turnover between Georgia and EU increased by 17.7% in comparison to 2017 and reached $3.35 billion in 2018, much in part thanks to the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) agreement with the EU.

In January 2019 the external merchandise trade (excluding non-declared trade) of Georgia amounted to USD 826.8 million, which is the 1.2 per cent higher compared to the same month of the last year, the Georgian National Statistics Office says.
