Inmates harvest beans, greens and vegetables in Gldani prison

Inmates in Gldani #8 prison, in the outskirts of Tbilisi, have harvested beans, greens, cucumbers, tomatoes and raspberries to sell them and receive income.
Georgian Justice Minister Tea Tsulukiani has attended the harvest earlier today, saying that the project for inmates was launched in the spring.

With the help of the French-Georgian Chamber of Commerce the products will be sold in one of the large supermarkets of Georgia, while beans and tomato harvested by the inmates are bought by Cafe Litera.
The inmates have already received up to 2,000 GEL ($680) income thanks to the project.
The Georgian Justice Ministry, with the partnership of the charity Apkhazeti, has allocated funds for 142 former prisoners between 2013 and 2019 to help them start businesses.
The Georgian Goju-ryu [the main traditional Okinawan style] karate and the basketball federations have gotten involved in a project of the Georgian Justice Ministry which aims to help juvenile convicts in three prisons of Georgia gain new skills.
A prisoners employment project has been launched at Gldani prison and inmates planted three species of raspberry and sowed beans at a land plot especially allocated for the work.
Flowers grown in the 16th prison of Rustavi in eastern Georgia by convicts will be sold during a flower festival on the Independence Day of Georgia on May 26.
A snail farm has opened in the western Georgian region of Samegrelo within the the state-run United Agro Project. A total of 200 new enterprises have been financed in Georgia within the United Agro Project, including 25 in Samegrelo.
For the first time in Georgia prisoners will be employed in public service and receive income from the state budget.
