The Georgian Interior Ministry has released a video depicting how four individuals who have been charged with violence at the June 20 Tbilisi demonstration use batons and other items to attack police.

Red arrows are placed over the individuals who have been charged.

The Interior Ministry has reported that the four detainees are Zurab Badaghashvili, Kakhaber Kupreishvili, Tsotne Soselia and BesikTamliani.

Member of the United National Movement opposition party Giorgi Baramidze says that “as I was informed, one of them is our member,” [but he said he did not know the name].

Soselia has a previous crime record, was detained for hooliganism and disobedience to police several times.

Bagashvili was sentenced several times for different crimes and was wanted for a year.

Tamliani was suspended from Georgian citizenship in 2006 and was a Russian citizen until 2018.

Kupreishvili travelled to Russia on June 23, 2019 and returned from Moscow on June 25.

Violence committed by a group is punishable by six to nine years.

An investigation is also in progress regarding opposition MP Nika Melia, who is charged with incitement to violence on June 20.

Georgian Chief Prosecutor’s Office stated yesterday that the Interior Ministry will also investigate charges of “attempting a coup” on June 20.

The opposition says that the government is taking steps to suppress the opposition.
