Georgia is working on protecting and improving the quality of Georgian produce and making it more popular by launching a new regulation on ‘Rule for the Use of the Quality Mark’.
The classification level of 11 quality marks are defined:
Protected geographical indication
The name of the protected appellation of origin
After granting the right to use the quality mark, the enterprise and the produce are subject to permanent control in accordance with the monitoring plan. In case of any violation appropriate measures will be taken”, read the press release by the government of Georgia.
Granting a quality mark for food produce is voluntary, announced the government of Georgia.
