Saudi Arabia is opening an Embassy in Georgia’s capital of Tbilisi in May 2018 in order to promote the relationship between the two countries, Georgia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports.
The decision on opening the Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Tbilisi came after the meeting of Georgian Ambassador Giorgi Janjgava with the representatives of the Saudi Arabian Foreign Ministry this week.
To note, in January 2015, a Georgian Embassy was officially opened in the Saudi Arabian capital of Riyadh, which greatly contributed to the development of bilateral and multilateral relations between the two countries in political, military, trade-economic, investment and tourism fields.
The ministry noted that the amount of direct investments from Saudi Arabia in Georgia exceeded $100 million. Meanwhile, 60,000 travellers from Saudi Arabia visited Georgia in 2017.
The ministry said that the entrance of Saudi Arabia’s budget airline Flynas on the Georgian market will further increase the number of Saudi Arabian visitors to Georgia.
