Georgia is improving air quality monitoring to ensure that air quality throughout the country meets European standards.
Georgia’s Ministry of Environment and Agriculture launched a mobile automatic station for monitoring atmospheric air quality today in Tbilisi. Thanks to this station, it will be possible to measure the air quality in the capital of Tbilisi and other regions of the country.
The mobile station has already measured air quality in Europe Square and Rose Square in Tbilisi, where air indicators were normal, announced the ministry.
Meanwhile, to protect and maintain fresh air in the country, Georgia’s Ministry of Environment has been installing a special automatic monitoring system to measure pollution levels in the country.
These monitoring systems have already been introduced to Georgia’s western city of Kutaisi and the Black Sea resort town of Batumi.
Rustavi is the next city in Georgia where the monitoring system is planned to be installed.
Improving air quality standards in Georgia is one of the commitments of the EU-Georgia Association Agreement signed in June 2014.
