Tbilisi City Hall priorities for 2018:
Restoring historic Tbilisi, improving the transport system

Restoring the historic part of Georgia’s capital city of Tbilisi, improving transport and roads in the city are some of the major tasks set for 2018 by the new Mayor of Tbilisi, Kakha Kaladze.

Kaladze spoke about this year’s plan today, announced some of his administration’s priorities for 2018.

The mayor stated that improving the transport system in the capital city will be one of City Hall’s priorities this year.

Important events are planned in this regard to make public transportation more comfortable for the citizens of the capital city. In addition, road projects and various infrastructural projects will also be implemented, which will ease traffic in specific parts of the capital city,” said Kaladze.
In 2018 another priority will be the restoration of historic parts of Tbilisi. In December last year we started a very important project – the rehabilitation of Orbeliani Square and nearby territories,” said Kaladze.

A total of 62 million GEL (about $23.26m/€20.11m*) will be allocated for the rehabilitation of historic districts of Tbilisi, said Kaladze.

The mayor also stated that this year the rehabilitation of Gudiashvili Square, Dry Bridge and its adjacent areas and 9 March Square is planned.

To note, the 2018 budget for Tbilisi City Hall is about 880 million GEL (about $341.09m/€285.41m*) - 60 million GEL more than was planned initially.
