The government of Georgia has launched a Strategic Communication Training programme for public servants, which envisages the boosting of strategic communication skills for central and regional government employees of Georgia.

The announcement was made today at an event held for the launch of the programme.

The training is financially supported by the US Embassy to Georgia and is being implemented by the Georgian Centre for Security and Development (GSCD).

Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili has stated that high strategic communication skills of public servants are essential in modern day conditions when Russia and many other countries use various forms of hybrid war.

US support in strategic communication is particularly important for us to completely inform our people about the benefits of Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic Integration,” Kvirikashvili said.

The PM stated that enhancing strategic communication was of the highest importance in the Georgian regions and appealed to state employees to maximally use the training opportunities.

The training will significantly improve strategic communication both in the capital and in the regions and will also provide space for conducting specific surveys. The surveys will be made public and steps will be taken to form the public view in the right direction,” the PM added.

The US Ambassador to Georgia Ian Kelly stated that the US "strongly supports” Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic integration and highlighted the importance of the Georgian people’s attitude to their country’s foreign course.

It is in our [US] interests for Georgia to come closer to the west, to join the EU and NATO. Consequently, it is very important that you [the government] should have public support. You should send very clear messages, very understandable messages, to your people on why integration into the western and not ‘northern’ community is in the public interest,” Kelly said.

Members of the diplomatic corps and state officials participated in the event held today in capital Tbilisi.
