Georgian PM sums up Munich Security Conference

Georgia will host various events co-organized by the Munich Security Conference (MSC) next year.

This is the decision that the Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and the Chairman of MSC Wolfgang Ischinger have made today.

Meeting at the 54th MSC, Kvirikashvili and Ischinger emphasized importance of the security conference which has brought together heads of states from more than 30 countries and more than 100 ministers worldwide.

Summing up the security conference, Kvirikashvili said the Georgian delegation had interesting meetings with the world leaders.

The relations between the United States and Georgia are on a very high level, we cherish this and we must keep going forward. We also had meetings with the European Commissioner and representatives of the business community. The executives of large companies joined us in very exciting discussions about the opportunities Georgia has to offer. A keen interest was expressed, and I am convinced that many of them will visit Georgia in the nearest future", PM Kvirikashvili said.

The Georgian delegation headed by PM Kvirikashvili has held a number of meetings with different world leaders.

At today’s meeting, Prime Minister Pavel Filip of the Republic of Moldova invited his Georgian counterpart to participate in the upcoming GUAM Summit in Chisinau on June 21. The meeting will bring together the Prime Ministers of the GUAM member states.

Meeting with the Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım earlier today, the parties agreed that Georgian Prime Minister will also participate in the next high-level meeting of the Georgia-Turkey Strategic Cooperation Council that will be held in Turkey this year.

Prior to today’s security conference event "Georgian politics and literature”, Kvirikashvili spoke of its importance ahead of Georgia’s participation in the Frankfurt Book Fair as Guest of Honor this.

It is a way of showcasing our country and our culture, not just literature. We believe that everyone in Europe shares the view about Georgia being on the right track, with a number of crucially important reforms implemented in our country and equally significant steps taken. People are taking growing interest in our state of affairs and issues we are facing, and they are expressing equally growing support”, Kvirikashvili said.

The 54th Munich Security Conference, which will last until February 19, officially kicked off yesterday.
